Trusted Body Integrity Experts for Over 50 Years

For decades, Wayne Johnston Autobody has been proud to help Manitobans bring their vehicles back to roadworthy condition. As a MPI Accredited collision repair facility, we specialize in structural repairs, OEM repair procedures, and certified inspections. Our team includes I-CAR Platinum Journeyman Technicians, ensuring your vehicle is inspected and repaired to the highest standards.

Certification Process

A Body Integrity Inspection (BIIC) is a mandatory step in the process of recertifying a salvage vehicle in Manitoba. A salvage vehicle is one that has been written off by an insurance company, but can be rebuilt and legally registered again if it passes several inspections.

Why It’s Required

The Body Integrity Inspection Certificate (BIIC) provides assurance that the frame and body are structurally sound, and that all repairs meet manufacturer (OEM) standards. This inspection is required before a Certificate of Inspection (COI) can be issued, which is the final step to register your vehicle in Manitoba.

There are four vehicle status labels in Manitoba:

  • Stolen – vehicle reported stolen and not yet recovered (cannot be registered).

  • Irreparable – written-off vehicle too damaged to ever be rebuilt (for parts only).

  • Salvageable – written-off vehicle that can be rebuilt, but must pass inspections.

  • Rebuilt – a salvageable vehicle that has been repaired and has received both a BIIC and a COI.

Our Online Booking Process

We’ve made our Body Integrity Inspection scheduling simple and entirely online.
Please do not drop off your vehicle without an appointment confirmation. All Body Integrity Inspection requests must begin with an online intake form and confirmation from our team.

Step 1: Pre-Inspection Appointment

  • Complete the online intake form and select an available appointment date.

  • Our I-CAR Platinum Journeyman Technician will meet with you to:

    • Approve or adjust your repair plan

    • Provide OEM repair procedures and requirements

    • Capture four colour photos of your vehicle (before repairs begin)

    • Confirm whether you or a repair facility will complete the repairs

    Preparation for Pre-Inspection
    Please bring the following:

    • Bill of Sale / Proof of Ownership

    • Completed Application for Rebuilt Vehicle Certification (from MPI Vehicle Standards)

    • OEM Repair Procedures (if applicable)

    • Vehicle clean and free of dirt/mud at inspection points

    • Charged battery

    • Vehicle in driveable condition

    Vehicle Requirements (IMPORTANT):

    • Cars: Arrive with front fenders removed.

    • Trucks: Arrive with front fenders installed (structural component) and front bumpers removed for frame inspection.

Step 2: Body Integrity Inspection Appointment

  • Once your repair plan is approved and work is completed, register for a Body Integrity Inspection appointment online.

  • When your appointment is confirmed, you may drop off your vehicle at our facility.

  • Our licensed inspection mechanic will:

    • Perform dimensional and alignment checks

    • Verify repairs meet OEM standards

    • Sign the Body Integrity Inspection Certificate (BIIC) if requirements are met

  • If your vehicle does not pass, you will receive a detailed report outlining failure points to correct before reinspection.

Step 3: Re-Inspection (If Required)

  • If additional work is needed, schedule a re-inspection online.

  • Wait for appointment confirmation before bringing your vehicle back.

  • Once repairs are verified, we will issue your BIIC so you can proceed with a Certificate of Inspection (COI) for registration.

Notes for Customers

  • Tow Only – Salvageable vehicles cannot be driven until both a BIIC and COI are issued. They must be towed to and from appointments.

  • MPI Workload – We remain primarily a collision repair facility under contract with Manitoba Public Insurance. At times of high MPI workload, Body Integrity requests may experience a short delay.

  • COI Requirement – After passing Body Integrity, you must still obtain a Certificate of Inspection before the vehicle can be registered.
