MPI-Certified Vehicle Inspection Station for BIIC
For decades, Wayne Johnston Autobody has been proud to help Manitobans bring their vehicles back to roadworthy condition. As a MPI Accredited Vehicle Inspection Station, we specialize in collision repair, structural repairs, and OEM repair procedures. Our team includes I-CAR Platinum Journeyman Technicians, ensuring your vehicle is inspected and repaired to the highest standards.
Why a BIIC Is Required
The Body Integrity Inspection Certificate (BIIC) provides assurance that the frame and body are structurally sound, and that all repairs meet manufacturer (OEM) standards. This inspection is required before a Certificate of Inspection (COI) can be issued, which is the final step to register your salvage vehicle in Manitoba.
There are four vehicle status labels in Manitoba:
Stolen – vehicle reported stolen and not yet recovered (cannot be registered).
Irreparable – written-off vehicle too damaged to ever be rebuilt (for parts only).
Salvageable – written-off vehicle that can be rebuilt, but must pass inspections.
Rebuilt – a salvageable vehicle that has been repaired and has received both a BIIC and a COI.

Notes for Customers
MPI Workload – We remain primarily a collision repair facility under contract with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI). During periods of high MPI workload, Body Integrity Inspection requests may experience short delays. Most vehicles are inspected within 1–2 business days of arrival when a properly completed intake form is received.
COI Requirement – After passing Body Integrity, you must still obtain a Certificate of Inspection before the vehicle can be registered.
Important:
Tow Only – Salvageable vehicles cannot be driven until both a Body Integrity Inspection Certificate (BIIC) and a Certificate of Inspection (COI) have been issued and the vehicle has been properly registered with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI).It is unlawful to operate or drive a vehicle with salvage status using a dealer license plate or repair license plate. These vehicles must be towed to and from all inspection or repair appointments until they are fully certified and re-registered.
The only lawful exception is when a licensed repairing mechanic drives the vehicle solely for testing purposes as part of the authorized repair process.
